Four members of the Group were in attendance at the 8th International Conference on Micromechanics of Granular Media (Powders and Grains). This hosting of Powders and Grains took place in Montpellier, France on 3-7 July.
Congratulations to Dr Jin Sun from the Institute for Infrastructure and Environment (IIE) who has just been awarded a RAEng/Leverhulme Trust Senior Research Fellowship.
All good things must come to an end, including collaborative projects. Yesterday, on 28 February, the final review meeting of the three-year VELaSSCo project (‘Visual Analysis for Extremely Large-Scale Scientific Computing’) was held in Luxembourg.
Congratulations to Christopher Ness who has been awarded the triennial EFCE Excellence Award in Mechanics of Particulate Solids. This award recognises a PhD thesis or papers which demonstrate an outstanding contribution to research and/or practice in Mechanics of Particulate Solids.
